How to Enroll

2020-2021 ENROLLMENT is now open at Canfield Avenue School for neighborhood and resident families.  Please make an appointment to pick-up or drop-off an enrollment packet by going to:

Per LAUSD policy, students must be five on or before September 1, to enroll in kindergarten. Under District policy, there are no exceptions to this age requirement for kindergarten. Canfield residents may enroll starting in March. To begin the process, start by confirming your School of Residence:

RESIDENT SCHOOL LOCATOR

The first step is to locate your LAUSD school of residence by using the Resident School Locator. If Canfield is your school of residence, you may pick up an enrollment packet at the school office.  In order to pick up a packet, you must bring proof of residence. Please call the Canfield office for more information at (310) 552-2525. If the school is not in your neighborhood, there are several enrollment options:

PERMITS & TRANSFERS

INTRA District Permits (LAUSD School To Canfield)

Permit applications from one LAUSD school to another can be obtained at Canfield and need to be signed and approved by both the home school and the school requested. For more information and access to the online INTER DISTRICT application, please visit studentpermits.lausd.net or call (213) 241-5255.

INTER District Permits (To LAUSD/Canfield from another School District)

Online application can be accessed at permits.lausd.net. Incoming inter-district permits do not have a closing date and are available throughout the year. Please read the information related to the permit process to ensure that all needed documents are provided. Incomplete applications will not be processed and will be abandoned after 30 days. Only one online permit application per school year will be processed per student.

SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED STUDIES (SAS)

These District programs are designed for students in grades 1-12 identified as gifted, highly gifted, and/or students who demonstrate superior academic achievement with appropriate documentation. Visit the GATE Office website for more information.
