Canfield is a special and unique place - a small community public school that succeeds because of the partnership that exists between involved parents, committed teachers, and a tireless administration. At Canfield Elementary, we understand and savor the elementary years of your child’s life. We hope you appreciate how quickly the future approaches and take some time to participate in the many wonderful activities at our school.

We begin the year with a Back-to-School Picnic where new families get acquainted with returning families. Beautification Day, Movie Nights, the Fall Dance, the Halloween Parade, and our Book Fair are just some the events that fill the Fall calendar. Spring is busy with Earth Day, a school-wide Art Show, our Gala event, Field Day, a Spelling Bee, and our much-anticipated Spring Musical.

Friends of Canfield is a non-profit parent volunteer organization that supports, enhances, and enriches the educational environment at Canfield. FOC was originally founded by parents responding to the drastic cutbacks to education budgets. Today, our mission is largely the same - to provide the extra funding necessary so that the administration can provide our children with a rich and wholesome learning environment.

Beyond the three R’s, we are proud to be an Arts Program School. This designation brings additional funds into our school, which along with FOC support, helps fund our performing arts program (orchestra and chorus), as well as our visual arts programs.

We are proud of our school. You’ll the notice results on the faces of our children. They are thrilled to be at school. For many, their day starts before eight in the morning and ends after five. And believe it or not, our kids are often reluctant to leave at the end of the day. This feeling of acceptance, the comfort of belonging, is one of the hallmarks of Canfield. We are a diverse population. We are a community.
